Dewhurst Group Secures Geothermal Exploration Permit in Colombia for the Cóndor Paipa Project

This milestone positions Paipa, Boyacá, as a strategic territory for the country's geothermal development.

 

PAIPA, Colombia, September 2, 2026

Dewhurst Group, a renewable-energy and sustainable-development company, announced that its Cóndor Paipa Geothermal Project has received a geothermal exploration permit, a significant milestone for Colombia in the context of energy diversification.

The permit was granted by resolution 40122 on February 13, 2026, and took effect on April 6, 2026, following the project's registration in Colombia's National Geothermal Registry. The milestone caps a process that began in 2023 and included more than two years of technical review, environmental documentation, and coordination with Colombia's Ministry of Mines and Energy.

About the Cóndor Paipa Geothermal Project

The Cóndor Paipa Geothermal Project is a phased geothermal energy initiative located in Paipa, Boyacá, Colombia. The project is currently advancing through its exploration phase, with the long-term objective of developing geothermal power generation and complementary direct-use applications.
